Why build another commerce system?

The thinking behind a developer-first commerce project.

Doopify is my attempt at a commerce foundation developers can actually control and host themselves. Products, storefront, admin, checkout, and the pieces that make it feel like a real store instead of a pretty shopping cart demo.

There's a lot to get right in commerce, especially around payments, permissions, and orders. It's one of those projects where the details behind the interface matter as much as the interface itself.

It's in private beta, and there's more work to do. I'm not trying to pretend it's finished or that it replaces every existing platform. I just wanted to build a different kind of foundation and see how far I could take it.
